Minicoy: The Southern Gem of Lakshadweep

Minicoy, the second-largest island in India’s Lakshadweep archipelago, stands as the southernmost jewel in the group. With its crescent-shaped form, it boasts one of the largest lagoons in the region. The small islet of Viringli is situated to the south, while its distinct cultural identity sets it apart from the Northern group of islands. Notably, the closest landmass is Thuraakunu Island in the Maldives, located approximately 100 km to the south, separated by the Vangaaru Channel.
